Nice mini PC! I bought it to use as a software router. I read the reviews and was ready to deal with the thermal problems: a small gap between the CPU and the heat spreader. I sanded the motherboard supports a bit (0.4-0.5 mm), changed the default thermal paste, and the problem disappeared: 42°C was the average temperature for the past month. The load is insignificant anyway, for a homelab I would put an additional fan on top. I installed openwrt without problems using the x86 installation guide on their website. The network interfaces require some configuration, but there are many searchable answers on the Internet. It has been rock solid for the past month without any problems.
